By Marinus Jan Hubrechsen
Born in the Netherlands in 1946 and arriving in Australia with his parents and brother in the early 1950s, Marinus Jan Hubrechsen has worked as an academic, theatre director and carer. He has also travelled extensively throughout Australia, India, South East Asia, Europe and the USA, basing stories on these experiences.
His stories are pure fiction, while some trespass into the realm of taboo. Marinus has found ironic situations wherever folk strive to improve their lot, mainly out of greed or ego driven pursuits, only to lose it all. This can be fun to observe in others. But, as the old Dutch proverb warns us all, “an accident lurks in a small dark corner”.
