Anyume John Kemarre Cavanagh

Anyume John Kemarre Cavanagh is a senior Eastern Arrernte man and traditional healer. He grew up in Lytentye Apurte where he was educated at a mission school and placed in a boy’s dormitory by the catholic church. As an adult he worked as a horse tailor on stations across the continent. Upon receiving native title for land near where he was born, he started his own native horticulture business. He continues to work with native foods, seed collecting and bush medicine to this day. He is a member of Running Water Community Press and is preparing to publish a full-length memoir.
