The Elements of Fiction with Emily Maguire
This one-day intensive course provides an introduction to the elements of fiction including character, point of view, voice, setting and plot. Each element will be discussed using examples from contemporary and classic works of fiction and reinforced through short writing exercises.
By the end of the day you can expect to have a deeper understanding of the elements of fiction and a strong grasp on how they interact. You should also come away with lots of new ideas to apply to your own fiction writing.
This course is ideal for beginners and those wanting to kick-start a new project. You will get the most out of the discussions and exercises if you have a specific work-in-progress or idea for a novel or story.
