Picture Book Masterclass with Erica Wagner and Craig Smith CANCELLED
Sadly we’ve had to cancel this workshop as Erica and Craig will be unable to travel. We’re hoping we’ll be able to offer it again when travel restrictions are lifted, but are working on some webinar options in the meantime and will keep everyone posted.
Open to writers and illustrators with active picture book concepts or projects they wish to workshop at the course.
A practical workshop with children’s book illustrator, Craig Smith, who has illustrated over 400 titles for trade and educational publishers, and publisher, Erica Wagner, who has worked as an editor and publisher for over 30 years.
The workshop will include storyboarding, developing drafts and roughs, key concepts and choices about storytelling approaches and techniques, and how to recognise the ‘x’ factor. It is suitable for both writers and illustrators and will help develop your overall understanding of the important relationship between words and text. The day will include a 15-minute individual consultation with Erica on your picture book, and insights into visualising stories from Craig, as well as group activities and discussions. Materials will be provided.
Participants will be required to submit a sample of their work by 7th June in order to get the most out of the consultation. Details will be emailed on sign-up.
