First Nations Poetry with Yvette Holt
First Nations people in Alice Springs are invited to join Yvette Holt for two Saturdays of poetry writing.
Yvette will guide us through activities to get our stories and poems onto paper. We will be thinking a bit more about social justice issues for First Nations people in Alice Springs and creating poems from some of our stories and experiences.
You don’t have to be a poet or a writer to join in, just come along and share stories. Songwriters, other artists and storytellers are all welcome.
We will have the chance to submit some of our poems to be published in the Australian Poetry Journal. But don’t worry, if you don’t want your poems to leave the workshop room, they don’t have to.
Yvette Holt is Chairperson of the First Nations Australia Writers Network (FNAWN) and a multi-award-winning poet, essayist, editor, photographer and comedienne.
This workshop is proudly sponsored by FNAWN and will be held simultaneously with workshops in Geraldton run by fellow First Nations poet Charmaine Papertalk Green.
Lunch will be provided.
