Schools Program

Each NT Writers Festival, the NT Writers’ Centre team puts together an engaging Schools Program that brings visiting writers to local schools to deliver a range of workshops to primary and secondary students.

Although we made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 NT Writers Festival, elements of the 2021 Schools Program will go ahead as programmed.

Much-loved Darwin-based YA author, Leonie Norrington, will be delivering writing workshops at five local schools, working with students from grades 2-9; while acclaimed Melbourne-based writer Alice Pung will give an Author Talk to students at Alice Springs School of The Air from lockdown in Victoria.

The original 2021 Schools Program included an incredible line-up of 7 visiting writers, and remains a record of magnificent and generous writers, and we are grateful to Omar Sakr, Craig Silvey, Shele Parker, Phil Kettle and Marc McBride for their enthusiasm and support of the NTWF Schools Program.
