    NT Writers Festival Travel Scheme

    NT Writers Festival is excited to announce a new travel subsidy for non-Darwin residents, thanks to generous support from the Regional Arts Fund Tourism Accelerator Program.

    This special deal assists those living outside Darwin with the expenses involved in travelling to Darwin to enjoy the NT Writers Festival. Buy any festival ticket and you can receive $225 in your pocket to cover travel costs and/or a discounted price on three nights accommodation at our festival accommodation partner, Hudsons Apartments in Parap!

    Eligibility:

    1. The Scheme is only available to visitors from towns and communities beyond the Greater Darwin region;
    2. The subsidies cover transport (by plane, bus or train) to the value of $225 and/or a 20% discount on the standard rate of three nights’ accommodation at Hudson Apartments, Parap;
    3. You do not have to accept both forms of subsidy (e.g. you could stay with family members);

    Please note: The subsidies do not cover any insurance (you may add insurance at your own expense); The Scheme will operate until funds are expended (we recommend that you make your bookings as soon as possible).

    How to apply:

    1. Purchase any ticket to the festival
    2. Fill out our online form, attaching your NTWF ticket receipt along with proof of your residential address. Someone will be in touch to let you know if you are a lucky recipient of the travel subsidy and to arrange your discounted accommodation if you intend on staying with Hudsons Apartments!*

    Please note: If you plan to receive the accommodation discount you must book this with Hudson Apartments Parap before 31 May.  You may choose to stay longer, but you will need to arrange and pay for this separately.

    *If you change your mind after purchasing tickets or are no longer able to attend NTWF 2022, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reallocate your subsidy to someone else.

    To receive your travel subsidy:

    1. Book your airline, train, or bus tickets, keeping the receipts. You can also keep petrol receipts if you drive.
    2. Travel to Darwin and attend NT Writers Festival.

    To receive your accommodation discount:

    1. Fill out the subsidy form detailing your accommodation preferences with Hudson Apartments
    2. You will be contacted by NTWC staff confirming your reservation and to secure your booking with Hudson Apartments

    2022 Chief Minister’s NT Book Awards

    Submissions to the 2022 Chief Minister’s NT Book Awards are now CLOSED.

    Northern Territory authors with books published in 2020 & 2021 were invited to enter.

    Since 2009, the awards have celebrated excellence amongst published authors residing in the NT. They draw national attention to NT writers and in the past have served to raise the profile of remote, regional and Indigenous voices. The awards take place biennially and in 2022, thanks to the generosity of Chief Minister Michael Gunner and the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund, we are again pleased to open three categories – fiction, non-fiction and children’s/young adult – with a prize of $10, 000 for the winner of each category and $1, 000 for the shortlisted titles.
