Picture Book Development with Johanna Bell

Are you looking for feedback on your picture book manuscript or advice on how to advance your project?

Whether you’re in the early stages of drafting or ready to pitch to publishers, this one-on-one consultation with award-winning NT author, Johanna Bell, is designed to help take your picture book to the next stage of development.

All you need to provide is a synopsis and a draft manuscript (up to 600 words), to get the process underway. We’ll then set up a 30-minute zoom or phone chat with Johanna, who will provide you with a written summary report to help guide you. If you’re also illustrating your book, or working with an illustrator, feel free to send a storyboard, roughs or sample artworks.

Feedback sessions cover topics like:

  • Premise
  • Audience
  • Narrative structure
  • Characterisation
  • Voice
  • Visual narrative
  • Design considerations
  • Pathways to publication

What you need to do:
Step 1 – Book below
Step 2 –  Provide a synopsis (up to one page) and manuscript (up to 600 words) at least 14 days in advance.
Step 3 – Johanna will contact you to organise a time to zoom or chat.

Cost: $230 members | $ 285 non members
