Marvel-ous Graphic Novel Workshop
This month, Centralian Middle School students, Lauren Boyle, Seraphina Newberry and Alyssa Mason joined Declan Miller at Centralian Senior College to write and illustrate their own graphic novel under the creative mentorship of Yawuru graphic novelist Brenton E. McKenna and editor, Wolfgang Bylsma, Geshalt Publishing, Perth. Students were so enthused with the creative process that they turned up for an extra Saturday workshop.
The graphic novel format provides students multiple ways to develop and demonstrate their literacy, science and fiction skills by telling unique stories.
Brenton gave an inspiring and entertaining talk to year ten students on his journey to becoming a published and sought after author and illustrator.
This project is proudly supported by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF), Gestalt Publishing, the NT Writers’ Centre, and the hard work of dedicated school staff.
