Rachel Perkins
Rachel began her film career at the original CAAMA studio south of the Gap. Thirty years on, her work includes the TV dramas Total Control, Mystery Road and Redfern Now, produced by Blackfella Films, a company she founded. Her movies include Mabo, Bran Nue Dae, One night the Moon, Radiance and Craig Silvey’s Jasper Jones. She helmed the documentary series First Australians and most recently The Australian Wars. Her skin is Kemarre and her connection to Central Australia flows from her father’s mother, from northern Arrernte country. This year she has paused film work to contribute to a successful referendum.
