Bernard Namok Jnr

Bernard is a Training and Engagement Officer for First People’s Disability Network for Far North Queensland and the host of FPDN’s Podcast, Yarning Disability and has been with FPDN since March 2022. Prior to that and moving over to Cairns, Bernard has worked in the Indigenous radio sector since 2001 and is a former Senior Radio Broadcaster and Trainer for the Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association (TEABBA Media Services)
A recipient of the AFTRS AV Myer Scholarship in 2015, this award saw his dream being fulfilled of co-producing and co-writing the film documentary Carry the Flag – a 2017 documentary, produced by (Territories Own) Tamarind Tree Pictures, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the creation of the Torres Strait Flag, which was designed by his father, Bernard Snr.
Bernard also produced his first Radio Documentary for the National Features and Documentary Series in 2019 called ‘Let it Fly’ – The Namok’s Legacy, which explored the copyright issues surrounding the Torres Strait Flag.
