Nardi Simpson is a Yuwaalaraay writer, musician, composer and educator from North West NSW freshwater plains. A founding member of Indigenous folk duo Stiff Gins, Nardi has been performing nationally and internationally for 20 years. After winning the black&write! Fellowship in 2018, her debut novel, Song of the Crocodile, has gone on to be shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards for Indigenous Writing; the Indie Book Awards for Debut Novel; the NSW Premiers’ Literary Awards and the 2021 Stella Prize; among others. Most recently, Song of the Crocodile was the winner of The University of Queensland Fiction Book Award in the 2021 Queensland Literary Awards.
