WRITE NOW: Darwin
This group has recently restarted with gusto! A friendly meetup of authors (usually at Ray’s cafe) with a focus on getting words onto the page whilst having a coffee and a chat, you can contact them or find out more on Facebook.
Black Lines is a new monthly meet up for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers who just need a safe, quiet and encouraging environment they can go to once a month to work on their writing without the distractions of everyday life disrupting their flow of creativity.
Black Lines took place on the third Saturday of each month at Browns Mart Theatre from 10am to 1pm across 2020. Stay tuned for 2021 details.
Darwin: Poetry and Coffee Mornings
Meet some fellow poetry lovers to share your favourite works, or some work of your own. It’s held the third Thursday of every month, 10am – 11am. Just turn up and enjoy a coffee in poetic company! Held at Eva’s Cafe in the Botanic Gardens with appropriate social distancing. No need to register, just turn up.
Wild Words: Darwin
A monthly event to allow writers to trial some spoken word in front of a friendly audience. It happens the last Sunday of every month at Lucky Bat Cafe & Pizzeria Nightcliff from 4:30-6:30pm. Poetry Speakeasy Night
Held once a month on a Saturday night at Dom’s Bar & Lounge, this is Darwin’s newest poetry slam/spoken word night. Poets, writers and storytellers can share their work in a welcoming atmosphere or even just read the works of others in front of an appreciative audience.
