Meet a Children’s Publisher
As part of the Darwin Publishing Forum, October 14-15, a lucky 10 people can have a free 15-minute consultation with Clair Hume from Affirm Press, an expert in publishing children’s books. NTWC members with a viable children’s, junior fiction or YA project will get places on a first in, first served basis! Non-members will be slotted in if places are still available.
People applying for a 15-minute session will need to fill in the appropriate sections of the form below. Submissions open on September 4 and close on September 21. SUBMISSIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED BUT YOU CAN HEAR CLAIR HUME TALK ABOUT CHILDREN’S PUBLISHING AT 3.15PM AT THE FREE EVENT ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14 AT THE NORTHERN TERRITORY LIBRARY.
Clair Hume is the Commissioning Editor for the kids list at Affirm Press, a Melbourne-based publisher dedicated to publishing great Australian stories, big ideas, and the most engaging local and international authors. She’s enjoyed working with talented creators such as Graeme Base, Terry Denton, Jane Godwin, Rebecca Johnson, Alison Lester, Heath McKenzie and Alex Miles (just to name a few!). Clair loves stories that make kids laugh and wonder, stories with authentic characters and unforgettable illustrations, and stories that stay in your heart so even when you’re old and can’t remember where you’ve left your teeth, you can still recall where the green sheep was.
The Darwin Publishing Forum is a weekend of discussions and workshops for anyone looking to understand more about writing and getting published in Australia. Featuring industry specialists, including an agent, and a publisher.
