Manuscript Appraisal

If you have a manuscript but don't feel confident to send it off to publishers... If you have a story but feel you can't evaluate it yourself... If your writing needs something more but you don't know what..If publishers keep sending 'this does not suit our list' responses... then manuscript appraisal could help you.

The NT Writers' Centre offers a Manuscript Appraisal Service to provide support and training for NT writers. The service enables writers to receive informed feedback from published writers or practising editors about their manuscripts. Assessors may be based in the NT or interstate.

Assessments give writers advice on the strengths and weaknesses of their manuscripts, with strategies and suggestions for improvement. Writers may also receive information on potential markets for their work.

The NT Writers' Centre offers a range of levels of assessment, with varying costs, according to the length of the manuscript. In addition to the written appraisal writers can elect to have a meeting with their assessor to go through details of the report.

Information on rates and guidelines is available here or by emailing .

ONLINE DATABASE OF WRITERS AND EDITORS IN THE NT:

The purpose of the Database is to increase exposure and work opportunities for NT Writers' Centre members. Currently, the NT Writers' Centre receives numerous inquiries from government and non-government bodies looking for writing related services. The database will enable us to more effectively link our members up with these bodies. The search function enables interested parties to find the service they require, whether it be a workshop facilitator, writer, editor or proof reader etc. Member entries in the database will include
* the genres / areas they are working in
* background information about them
* their published works and/or excerpts of unpublished work
* their photograph (optional)
* a direct email contact to them, so users can link up with them directly
* a link to their own web page (if applicable)

A listing in the NT Writers' Centre members Internet database will create an additional avenue for writers to showcase their work in a professional form. The database will receive a significant level of national and Territory wide promotion. To register please fill out the Online Database Registration form and return it to the Centre.
